Health checks are an excellent way of assessing how your body is doing. Whether you are worried about something being not quite right or just want to see what kind of shape your body is in then this is a perfect way to find out. Finding out what could be better and working together on preventative health measures is the best way to ensure a healthy and happy life. We offer a health check which is bespoke to you and your concerns. During your health check we will find out about you and your medical history. You will receive a full examination and we will carry out a number of tests including:

Children's Health

Skin
Healthy skin is happy skin. If you have noticed a new lesion on your skin or simply want to check that your moles are all healthy then make an appointment to see one of our experienced GP’s.
Skin cancer becomes more common with age and the rates of melanoma have risen faster than any other common cancer with the number of people being diagnosed increasing by almost half in the last 10 years alone. We will examine your skin and use a dermoscope to assess and evaluate the structure of each lesion (Dermoscopy).
We recommend a skin check as part of your annual check up.
Ear Wax Removal
Build up of ear wax is a normal phenomenon which can be a real nuisance. Not only does it affect your hearing but it can cause earache, dizziness, tinnitus, vertigo and ear infections. This is a really common problem and it is usually easy to resolve with an ear syringe.
It is important to see an experienced doctor to have this procedure done as it can be a delicate procedure to undertake. We offer an ear syringe service which is carried out by our experienced GP’s who can get you hearing again.
Your job is to apply some warm olive oil or Otex drops for a week or so before your appointment. On average most of our patients will require this annually.
Weight Loss
Being a healthy weight has significant health benefits to you and your ongoing wellbeing. Patients who are overweight risk running into a variety of health problems including Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and some cancers. Losing weight is hard work and many people struggle with traditional methods of diet and exercise.
There are now medical options to help support you in losing weight and becoming healthier. Although these are not suitable for everyone they provide an excellent option for some and are proven to be effective in weight loss. Semaglutide is an injectable medication which can achieve up to a 15% reduction in body weight after just one year.

Cancer Screening
With around 1000 cases of new cancer diagnoses every day in the UK, cancer will affect 1 in every 2 people in their lifetime. Of these 4 in 10 could be prevented and early detection and management remains paramount in beating the disease.
With advances in medical technology we are now able to detect cancer in the early stages with a blood test.
We have been using tumour marker tests for several years now which help guide our management but with a new test called the Trucheck Intelli test we can test for up to 70 types of solid cancer tumours. The test has been validated across cohorts of over 40,000 and will pick up 95% of these cancers with a false positive rate of around 1%. The test looks for circulating tumour cells in the blood stream and these can then be analysed to determine the likely source of the tumour.
The test requires careful consideration and discussion as well as interpretation but is a useful screening tool in a disease which will affect a huge number of us.
